Doc Thompson, 2006 Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide of the Year, has been stalking wild trout in Northern New Mexico's many gems for nearly 2 decades. First discovering the lure of the Waters of Enchantment while backpacking the mountains of the Philmont Scout Ranch. Thompson moved to New Mexico full-time after working and fishing many seasons at Philmont. Doc's patience and calm demeanor presents a comfortable atmosphere for guiding anglers new to the sport as well as teaching new tricks to old dogs who have been fly fishing for years. Thompson presents numerous slide shows and seminars for clubs and fly shops throughout the Southwest and Midwest on dry fly fishing his favorite waters. Doc is an accomplished writer as well, contributing articles, essays and photos to magazines and books; including FRESHWATER FLYFISHING TIPS FROM THE PROS (Edited by Mark D. Williams/Fireside Pub.), FLY FISH AMERICA and THE ANGLING REPORT. In his spare time Thompson is active with Native Rio Grande Cutthroat Restoration Projects and in stream flow projects. Doc has recently been honored as the 2005 Orvis Fly Tier of the Year.
