REPORTS

AS OF TUESDAY APRIL 29, 2008

CIMARRON
Flows out of Eagle Nest Lake are about 22cfs and flows down in the town of Cimarron are 44cfs. Water conditions are good with a tinge of gun metal gray which means the fish are less spooky. Fishing has been fair to good the last few days and should only imporve as water temps increase going into May. Seeing a few BWOs and spring Caddis. Remember June is typicaly a fun dry fly time with the golden stonefly hatch.

RIO COSTILLA
Fishable flows in the RCCLA section of the Costilla, however water temps are still pretty cold in this higher elevation meadow stream. The Valle Vidal section doesn't open until July 1..

RED RIVER
Flowing around 200cfs below Questa, NM which means runoff. Won't look to fish below Questa until first of September.

RIO GRANDE
1000cfs near state line, runoff. Don't look to fish the Rio until September.

NEWS

At the February 2008 New Mexico Game and Fish Commision meeting the Game Commision voted against the proposed "multiple fly" regulation. Thanks to everyone that submitted their thoughts regarding this.

In late February of 2008 I hosted a saltwater trip to El Pescador Lodge in Belize. Everyone had a wonderful trip and landed a number of bonefish. 3 people landed their first Permit-Congratulations Dennis, Ken and Jerry. I hooked into 2 Permit but quickly lost them when I set with a trout hook set. Will definitely plan another trip to Belize.

The Valle Vidal Protection Act was signed by President George W. Bush on December 12, 2006. This act protects the treasured Valle Vidal from mineral developments and leasing including coalbed methane. Thanks to everyone that showed their support to help protect the beautiful Valle Vidal for future generations. -
